Hi beautiful people!! We are Madeline and Cooper, also known as “The Hewetts.” We are the faces behind By the Sea Films, and it is our absolute privilege to meet you!! We have been filming weddings for five years together. Joining passions with Cooper and starting this business together has been a huge honor and blessing to our lives. We are so thankful God chose this as our path. Being business parters with my best friend truly is a dream. Getting to meet so many beautiful couples together and being so inspired by their love is the icing on top!

My life has always revolved around the sea. I grew up looking for shells (gems as we would call them) on the beach with my mom. It was our special hobby & the beach was our special place. And now, today it is a place where Cooper and I founded our relationship. Racing to every sunset we could catch, sharing sleepy sunrise snuggles, many many… many beach picnics, Cooper learning the excitement of finding sunrise shells, long chats in the sand about the future, never missing a sunset swim, swimming with whales, sharks, sea turtles and dolphins in the pacific together… By the sea is where all my favorite adventures begin. It’s where I find an enriched sense of peace, and an overwhelming feeling of gratitude. All stages of my life, have been
by the sea. This journey started on a small beach in Kauai, Hawaii where two years later we got engaged.
Photography has always been my passion but it became a career in 2014. I’ve always desired to show people the beauty I see in them. Each person to me, is so beautifully and wonderfully made. Videography took my passion for capturing sweet moments and made me fall even more in love.. There is something so special about watching a memory come back to life. A forever home, for your most special memory.

Full circle
We recently got married October 7th, 2020 and in my vows I said to Cooper “You have taken me to the highest points you can find to gaze at the stars together, woken me up before the birds to snuggle on the beach and watch the sunrise, and searched for hours looking for my favorite seashells… All to show your love for me. We have sat on the most beautiful cliffs in the world but my favorite edge will always be on the roof of your parents house. You have shown your love for me in the most extraordinary ways but seeing your love filled eyes will always be my favorite way you show me.”
We get home from our honeymoon, I turn on the radio and hear “Canyons” by Cory Asbury for the very first time. It quickly became so special to us because it felt like my vows in a song. Captivating love that you just can’t wrap your head around… I was speaking of Cooper’s love but the song is referring to God’s love. We believe the love we feel for each other is just a small glimpse of God’s love for us.
